Mission ISRO with Harsha Bhogle (Podcast)

Image
Mission ISRO with Harsha Bhogle "Upar se Bharat kaisa dikhta hai?" "Ji, mein bejhijhak keh sakta hu, saare jahan se accha."           A Spotify original podcast. Born into violence, poverty, and the desolation of colonial exploitation, newly independent India was a nation working hard to find its footing. In a time when food was scarce, the country divided by caste and religion, and a foundation structure yet to be laid... was India ready to take up the space challenge? Did India need a space program? How did the program get its shape that it has today? Who was behind this? How did they manage to build such a big institute in such a short duration of time? What is their story? The story of India's space program is such an unlikely one, with so many uncommon characters, filled with such impossible odds, that it can sometimes seem like science fiction rather than science. This is that story. A story of rags to space narrated in the voice of the renowned com...

Comedy: Seth Meyer (Lobby Baby) & Ellen DeGeneres (Relatable)

Image
Comedy Special Seth Meyer           An American comedian, writer, producer, actor, and television host. Every comedian has a talent unique to him/her. From my analysis of Seth Meyer's videos and shows, particularly his monologues, I have observed his strong suit to be political jokes. Thus, his shows always have a satire on many social issues like racism, the LGBTQ community's lack of rights, and their social acceptance. The focus also includes the current news and its presentation in a hilarious way. Seth Adam Meyer, an SNL Alumnus, currently running his own show Late Night With Seth Meyers has done many shows, series, and few movies. He has a stand-up special as well - Lobby Baby .             Lobby baby is Seth Meyer's stand-up comedy special featuring Seth Meyer's life and a political segment. A comedian's specialty is presenting simple and everyday incidents in a laugh-your-ass-off manner. However, Seth Meyer has ...

Paying Guest- 1957 (Movie)

Image
Paying Guest (1957)           Don't watch it. No one is forcing you to watch it. Do something better with your time like contribute to household work. It isn't only your wife's or mother's responsibility. It's everyone's living in the house. Take onus and do your part. After doing your share of work watch this movie and then maybe you will see the height of patriarchy in India. Do you know that if women were paid for all the domestic work they did, they would be earning approximately Rs. 9,00,00,000 annually? Women spend about 6 hours of the day doing house chores while men spend about 52 minutes and these are just average numbers! Why has our culture developed this way? Who made these norms? Well, our culture is the way it is because of movies like this one... (Things will become clear when once I explain the plot.) Men are the ones making these the norms, obviously, with the support of some anti-feminist and patriarchial women who think they are uphold...

Bridge Of Clay (Book)

Image
Bridge Of Clay           Bridge of Clay - a  beautiful heart-warming book by Markus Zusak. He has written a few books, however, the most famous remains The Book Thief . The book is globally popular and has won many awards. It was the narrative of The Book Thief which prompted me to read this book by Markus. The Book Thief was unique in the sense that it was written from the perspective of death. Death was personified. It was a thoroughly researched book set during World War II. However, Bridge of Clay is something different. It is set in Sydney, the current home of the author. The book is clearly written from the heart and it touched my soul. Many books are written but only a few books touch the reader. For everyone, it's a different book. For me, Bridge of Clay is one of those books. "He needs to hurt nearly enough to kill him," he said, "because that's how we goddamn live."           It is the story of a Dunbar boy named...

Parasite (Movie)

Image
Parasite           A mind-blowing South Korean movie that has won numerous awards. Most importantly, it is the first non-white movie to win the award Palme d'Or which is the highest award at Cannes Film Festival. The list of awards and nominations for this movie is huge. Additionally, the movie is a little over 2 hours long. However, it is worth every minute.           Parasite is an orchestra. There are many characters, the violin, the viola, the cello, the bass, etc. This orchestra played one of those pieces where bass begins the concert, few bars later, the cello joins, then the viola and finally the violin. The music gradually moves from piano to forte. Next, there is a chase, you know the song that is played in Tom and Jerry cartoon. The part where Jerry is being chased by Tom but as soon as the owner of the house arrives, both scatter. This is the exact vibe of the movie.           Basically, this mo...
