Guts (Book)

Image
Guts A book by Raina Telgemeier           Thoughts can exist, feelings can exist, but words do not always exist........... However, you can try.           Everyone has a different way of coping with stress, anxiety, and fear. Some overeat, some under-eat and some don't eat at all.  My stress mechanisms are similar to Raina. When I am stressed or anxious, my gastrointestinal tract goes haywire. I don't overeat or under-eat. I eat an optimum amount. This doesn't make a difference because in a panicky situation that food simply needs to come out via an orifice. Sometimes, I feel that something is wrong with me but I have come to a realization that I just happen to have a very sensitive stomach.           Can you be sick even if you're not sick? Can you be healthy even if you hurt? Guts is a story of elementary school kid Raina. She is dealing with friends, not friends and classmates who think the school year is just one long gross-out session. Raina has a terribly upset

Who Moved My Cheese? (Book)

Image
Who Moved My Cheese? An Amazing Way to Deal With Change In Your Work and In Your Life           I have read a couple self-help books and learned very little. I read a lot. I understood the importance. I knew the consequences of its application. However, I have applied very little. In one of my previous posts, I wrote the lessons from The Monk who Sold His Ferrari . I described my Journey to it and simultaneously realized the impact of its applications. But I never carried through. Most of the self-help, motivational books tell you what to do or what successful people have done. Who Moved My Cheese? is different. This book interprets for you. It makes you realize what you are thinking subconsciously. When do I move on? Should I move on? Do I need to move on? Was it there all along? How did I not see that? Am I holding on too tight?           I am sure we have asked at least a couple of these questions at some point in our life. Maybe some of us are asking them right now. And guess w

Comedy: John Mulaney (Kid Gorgeous & Comeback kid)

Image
Comedy Special John Mulaney           A handsome American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He has hosted SNL (Saturday Night Live) several times. What makes him unique is his style of talking. John is a voice artist, however, he does his stand-ups in a monotone voice. He says the most hilarious things with a very straight face. The sudden ups and downs in his voice aren't predictable. He makes up the silliest verses and the funniest monologues. He beats Seth Meyers. Honestly, he is a broadway show all by himself. The majority of times you will have no idea what he is about to say and when things are predictable, his tone comes as a surprise.  Andrew Glouberman in the Netflix series Big mouth is voiced by John Mulaney.           A 2018 Primetime Emmy Award winner for outstanding writing for a variety special. This is the name of the award that Kid Gorgeous won. It is that long. When John did this show, he was 35 years old. Hence, he shared his struggle of being

Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (Series)

Image
Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story The 1992 Scam saw the Indian market collapse completely as the stock prices dropped dramatically, whipping out over Rs. 1 lakh crore in market capitalization. Over 70 criminal cases and 600 civil cases were filed against Harshad Mehta and his family.           In order to truly understand this scam, it is of utmost importance to understand how the stock market and money market function. A scam of this stature isn't possible for a single person to commit. It occurs through collective engagement and collaboration. Thus, to blame Harshad Mehta as the only accused is fallacious. Hence, this dishonest series of events is known as The Scam 1992 rather than The Harshad Mehta Scam . What is the stock market and the money market?           In a stock market, investors own shares in companies. Companies have earnings. The price-to-earning ratio should tell us what's the proper level for the stock price. Companies do everything they can to increase ea

Extra: Being skinny

Image
Being Skinny Oh my God! You are so skinny! I know. You are so thin. I know. Don't you eat anything? Yes, I eat. No one likes to starve. I can see your bones. Yes, every human happens to have them. You look malnourished. Your opinion was all that I had yearned to know. You will blow away in the wind. Thank you for letting me know. You will look good if you put on some weight. Oh! Why didn't I think of that?   Oh, there is more: *Happy skinny people wearing a saree at a party.* Other people: You look like a bamboo stick wearing a saree. *These people laughing at their own joke.* Haha, you are so funny.   *Skinny people casually walking.* A random person walking alongside * holds the wrist *: Oh my God! I can completely hold your hand . Really? I couldn't see! Relative handing over a dress: I asked the shop keeper for the smallest size. OR Relative handing over a dress: I got a medium for you. You may exchange it. *Hands over the bill.* *Sighs*  Someone: Here is one piece

Bridgerton (Series)

Image
Bridgerton           A series from Shondaland. Shonda Rhimes is famous for her show Grey's Anatomy and Scandal. Thus, this show too has its drama, scandal, romance, and subtle comedy. It's absolutely bizarre. I am saying this because it is a weird combination of historical fiction, futuristic expectations, women empowerment, and the definition of love. Additionally, all the characters are exceptionally good looking, as always. The first episode came out on 25th December 2020. There are eight episodes so far.            It is historical fiction because it has the essence of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The time frame of the show, the society under the spotlight, the social conflicts, and the settings, all depict a modern Pride and Prejudice. Anyone who enjoys a good classical novel will be exhilarated when watching the series.           It is a futuristic expectation. Well, it may have been a complete futuristic expectation a decade back. However, the benchmark of ant

Comedy: Michelle Wolf (Joke Show)

Image
Comedy Special Michelle Wolf           Michelle Wolf is an American comedian, writer, producer, and television host. Many people call Michelle Wolf vulgar but I would say judge yourself. Frankly, she became quite a sensation after the 2018 White House Correspondents' Dinner. (Correspondents' Dinner is a place where all the journalists meet and are roasted by a comedian. The dinner is hosted by the White House to celebrate one of the pillars of democracy, i.e., honest and independent journalism.) In the 2018 dinner, Michelle Wolf specifically roasted the republicans, Fox News, Trump, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders (the White House Press Secretary under President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2019). Wolf gave quite a burn. The video is available on the C-SPAN channel on youtube. She has a stand-up special: Michelle Wolf: Joke Show .              Otters are rapists. It's true! Anything is porn if you masturbate to it. Tweets are manifestos and blogs are long conversations no one wan

Deciphering With Astha Dhal (Podcast)

Image
Deciphering with Astha Dhal           I hate it. I absolutely despise it. How could he do this to me? I knew I should have kept my distance. What is wrong with me? I shouldn't have opened up myself. She is truly awful. That was no way of speaking! Doesn't she get it? I should not have shared it. I should've kept it to myself. Something is wrong with me. I can't breathe. I want to let go. I want to die.               Today the teenagers deal with problems way different from what the Millenials dealt with. It is important to know that you are not alone. When people say, "look they have a bigger problem than you, so shut up..." I personally want to punch those people. Everyone is going through something. A teenager's problem is way different from an adult's. Deciphering with Astha Dhal is a podcast by Astha Dhal deciphering the life of a teenager.           The calm and serene voice of Astha leads us to into her soul. She takes us through the heart and
